How to Join:
Steps for Getting into the Program

  • Journey of Hope’s mission is to provide support to families with children ages 3 through 18, or to young adults as they grieve the death of a loved one. We are a non-profit organization and there is no fee for our services. In order to best serve our families, our groups are confidential to those who attend. For this reason, we do not allow drop-ins to participate in groups. Thank you for understanding.

  • If you have not already done so, please call to set up your orientation meeting/intake interview. Each person who will attend Journey of Hope support groups must attend the intake meeting in order to participate. You will meet with our Program Director or other qualified staff, which will give us more information and enable us to properly place each person in appropriate groups to fit your needs.

  • Before coming to your intake appointment, you will need to fill out some forms, which are included in a mail packet or email message. The forms request more detail about your family, circumstances of the death, and how you and your family are doing.  Please fill out the forms and bring them with you to your intake interview.

  • At the orientation meeting / interview, you…

    1. Will receive information about the Journey of Hope requirements for participation.

    2. Will discuss if the Journey of Hope is the right service for your family at this time.

    3. Will have an opportunity to ask questions, and discuss participating in the Journey of Hope.

    4. Will receive a schedule of meeting dates and upcoming events.

  • If you choose to participate in Journey of Hope Grief Support Center, your family will be given a starting date.  If the group for your family is full, you will be called as soon as an opening is available.

  • When you begin coming to Journey of Hope we ask that you attend a minimum of 5-6 times (you are welcome to attend more) and please give us 1-2 weeks notice before you end. Thank-you!
